Default Will this bore me?

Ok i've gathered some info about the game, and I was going to pick it up today, to play with WoW. I just have one last question however, I found City of Heroes very boring after a few weeks. Missions all looked exactly the same, as did enviornment in my opinion.

Am I going to have the same problem with this game? I ask because they are both NCsoft titles. I'd appreciate any replies from people who have played both, thanks.

It depends on what you're after in the game. No matter whether it's PvP or PvE or both, most people would tell you that you will get a lot of game for your money.

If you like PvE, you will love the game, its missions, quests, cooperative play. The problem a lot of people have is that, once the game's end is reached, they find themselves wondering what to do. Of course, one can try other classes, alternative ways of playing, etc. but that's really for another post.

If you like PvP, moving from PvE to that is natural as that is the ostenisble and logical path. There is a hugely loyal and very ardent PvP/GvG audience and, of course, it makes the game more interesting playing against -human- players rather than AI controlled NPCs.

If you like both, so much the better! The game will last a good long while for you. I have to say that for the $50 I spent, I have enjoyed over 200 hours of gaming...and I do not PvP/GvG! I can't imagine how many more hours I could add to that outrageous number if I did!

Are there gameplay issues, balance questions, complaints and suggestions for improvement? Of course but, then again, you get that in any game.

Pretty much all of that + other things. The idea is that there are different ways to play GW. That means that you can do lots of things in it, it's an open game which u must discover by urself (more fun that way). If u don't wanna play it (get bored) sit down and go try something new Great game, worth the 75 $ for the CE, the nonCE is perfectly good, too. Leveling up take waay less time than WoW btw.

The environment changes constantly in this game. They've set it up rather well so that at about the time you're starting to get frustrated or bored with your environment the terrain and theme changes (there are maybe 7 themes in total, 2 of which are visited twice in different contexts).

I would say that if you're after a MMORPG this may be a little disappointing. But for games in general it is far more valuable than the 50 bucks, 25 pounds, etc. that you'll pay for it.

Like all games, you are going to get bored with it eventually, but the fact that you don't have to cancel your account for not playing it and be able to come back to it later, with no extra cost, is why I prefer GW over Wow.

Aside from the ignorant children you will some times run in to (in ever online game) and the negativity in this forum, this game is perfect, just dont over play it too much, i dont want to come back here next week and see another "ok im bored" thread...

to make the game more enjoyable heres a few things that may help:
1) Dont run, takes the fun out of game and id say about 7/10 runners have already posted "im bored" threads...

2) Never trust a runner... people post way too many complaints about this, serves them right for running though

3) Don't spend your life farming, its Guild Wars, not Gold Wars

4) Ignore negitive comments, there about half a million of them on this fourm alone (most about "nerfs") so just try to relize there people are just impatient and dont know what they are talking about, and enjoy the good things about this game

5) If you see a male ele dancing, always stop to have a chuckle... well at least i do

6) Explore everythere, painful at times with 60% dp but in the end is worth it

7) Do not over use henchies... they are nice, but Aleisa [ tank henchmen] and all her friends just arnt as fun as real people

8) Ignore bossy monks.. scientists have proven 8/10 monks are jerks, so just ignore their negitive attitudes

9) Do not underestimate Necros or Mesmers, both can add a nice little twist to any party

and last but not least

10) When in doubt always remeber "no monthly fee, nothing is making me play this game for 20 hours a day"

anyways i hope this list helped.. its normaly what i use to keep myself entertained
